Migration of biliary endoprosthesis - case report and literature review

Introduction. The most common indications for placing a biliary stent are benign and malignant diseases that interfere with the normal flow of bile through extrahepatic ducts. This procedure carries risk developing early late complications. Case outline. We present case 63-year-old female patient admitted to our hospital additional diagnostics treatment. At admission reported onset following symptoms several days prior hospitalization: severe abdominal pain, predominantly in upper quadrants, nausea, vomiting, icterus. Initial idea carrying out non-surgical treatment this condition, was referred endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography purpose calculi extraction. However, due technical difficulties, aforementioned not carried out. Instead, upon papillotomy, plastic placed. second day after procedure, passing dark stools. After that, an esophagogastroduodenoscopy performed, which revealed duodenum, but without active bleeding. As part same removed, next underwent surgical Conclusion. In order prevent reduce incidence adverse effects complications, special caution should be applied when performing procedure. It is even more important timely recognize occurrence complications treat them promptly, achieve best outcomes possible.
